How Kool Is This?

Super Cross Collectible: Disneyana Collectors, Childrens (childs) Feeding Dish collectors and Donald Duck Collectors.

Attention Disneyana Collectors>.....I don't know if you will ever find another set like this. If you are really into vintage Disneyana this set is for you!

Both plate and bowl are embossed block stamped Walt Disney Prod., with the copyright C.

Unique: Both pieces are artist signed by the same artist. However, the plate is signed Beake 1979 and the bowl signed MB or JMB 1985. Why there is a difference in dates...I don't know. I am not sure if this was a marriage. Possibly, this was a one time production effort that was put on the back burner in 1979 and brought back again in 1985. I've researched and have never found any like this...not saying there aren't any. I just have never found similiar. Judging by the construction they may have been to expensive to produce in quantity.

They were both purchased at the same time back in 2002 at Goldrush in MN. I was going to start a childrens feeding dish collection for my daughter....but, her interests turned in another direction now that she's in college and needs money. I am starting the auction at half of what I had paid. The condition is the same as when I purchased the set...they have been packed away since.

Measures: Plate: D = 9" _ H = 1.25" _ B = 7.50"

Bowl: D = 6 7/8" _ H = 1 6/8" _ B = 4 1/8"

Pictures have been provided to help with the description. Although, remember the pictures are magnified and the flaws will appear intensified. If you would like additional photos please email and provide your email address. Ebay's email system does not provide for sending pictures.

All chips and tics described are shallow glaze chips and easily repairable by a professional if wanted repaired. Pictured are the chips that measure approximately 1/8". These appear to have been touched up by previous owners. The description is going to sound worse then what the items look like close-up and personal. Even with the old touch-ups these dishes display very nicely.

Comparison: Both have a very heavy bright colorful high gloss glaze. On the plate Donald's tongue is unevenly colored. Looks to be a manufacturing flaw since the missing color has been glazed over. Donald on the bowl only has an outline of a tongue.

Donald's bill on the plate is yellow vs. Donald's orange bill on the bowl.

Donald's eyes on the plate have white dots and have a blue coloring vs. Donalds's eyes on the bowl showing no dots or having blue coloration.

Donald has a painted Z shape design on his brow on the plate vs. Donald's brow on the bowl having the recessed brow that had not been (filled-in) with paint.

Donald's bill on the plate has a black accent lines whereas on the bowl the same accent lines appear recessed without paint. Also, lacking paint on the right side above the bill having a recessed line.

Condition: Bowl: Appears never to have been used (no utensil marks) and only displayed. Pictures show shallow glaze chip above head and between bill that extends to the side of rim and underneath. Along with one that measures app. 1/2" on the side of the rim that extends underneath. along with 3 or 4 smaller shallow glaze chips that have been touched up. The base has no mentionable problems.

In the concave section on the bottom of the bowl, it is handsigned JMB 1985. (Possibly just MB)...hard to tell since the letters are stacked together and are dependent upon each other.

Plate: Appears never to have been used (no utensil marks) and only displayed. Several tiny glaze chips (more like nics) on both the rim side and the bottom base. As shown in the picture there is a shallow glaze chip that had been previously touched up. The picture with Donald's big yellow beak shows a tiny 1/8" chip. A very minor nic on the black paint above the raised eyebrow.

In the concave section on the bottom of the plate it is handsigned Beake 1979. Initialed only in 1985.

Regardless, how awful the description sounds these are very nice pieces and provide a great display.
